The citizens’ movement named ‘Coexistence and Communication in the Aegean Area’ is a local organization that is active on the Greek island of Lesvos, an area that lies on the frontiers between the European Union and Turkey, a neighbouring country which is a candidate for integration into the European Union. The island, because of its geographic position, has importance because it is a sea passage for refugees who come from Asia/Africa to Greece via Turkey. Moreover, there is the presence of foreign immigrants who have settled on the island.

This organization participates in lifelong education for adults and has a particular interest in the theme of intercultural dialogue and the promotion of peace in the region. It seeks to participate in a European partnership project because it would like to develop its capability to positively influence social-global phenomena. All members of this organisation, both professional and non-professional, have a keen interest in enriching their experience of European citizenship.
